8.0.0-alpha7
TopLogic Release
2026-07-30
TopLogic 8.0.0-alpha7 introduces the two central innovations of TopLogic 8.0: the React-based UI layer TL Views and model-based access rights.
React UI (TL Views)
- Declarative views – views are described in
.view.xmlfiles and composed of small UI elements that gain model binding, channels, access control and commands only where needed; they coexist with the classic layout components. - React integration – a new module integrates React controls into TopLogic and delivers state changes to the browser via server-sent events.
- Editable tables – tables in forms can be edited row by row.
- Conversation display – object lists, file chips and card panels display comment threads.
Security and access rights
- Model-based access rights – which roles may perform which operations is defined on types, attributes and modules instead of on views; active by default.
ModelAccessRightsAPI – answers access questions for every access path, including TL-Script, REST interfaces and batch jobs.- Automatic security configurations – possible access configurations are determined automatically.
- Re-login on session timeout – "log in again" logs in via SSO instead of redirecting to the login page.
Model and TL-Script
- Rich-text descriptions – descriptions of model parts are formatted text shown as tooltips.
- Computed default selection – tables, tree tables and grids can compute their default selection by TL-Script.
- XML parsing – TL-Script functions based on the declarative XML import.
gzip()– compresses binary values.- Message levels –
log()andinfo()support INFO, WARN and ERROR. dateFormat()time zone – formats date values losslessly with an explicit time zone.- HTML checks – empty HTML values are recognized correctly.
- Variable completion – the TL-Script editor proposes the variables in scope after
$.
Configuration and operation
- Operation mode – a service provides the application's mode: development, test or production.
- Info service messages – appear at the bottom and stay while the mouse is over them.
- OpenAPI server rollback – a non-2xx response rolls back the transaction.
- Local credentials overlay – the application archetype creates a git-ignored overlay for developer-local secrets.
Bug fixes
- Flow diagrams: double clicks, selectable text in PDF exports, sub-grid layouts.
- Trees and tables: selection after a refresh, sub-tree selection with level filter.
- Persistence: change log during concurrent commits, context-dependent numbering in one transaction, case-sensitive file names of structured texts.
- UI: URL routing of the React views, dialogs of invisible components, image drop field, tooltips of main tabs.
Migration
- TL Views and the React module.
- Model-based access rights and automatically determined security configurations.
- Rich-text model descriptions,
dateFormat()time zone, operation mode service. - Default logging configuration, sequence identifiers of
resetSequence/generateSequenceId, database definition of tags, multi-valued references to deleted objects, flow diagram sub-grids.
Details are given in the migration section of the release notes below.
