If something goes wrong during layout replacement—because individual layout configurations are invalid—those configurations are replaced with null and thus integrated into their enclosing components. However, this inevitably causes component instantiation to fail, resulting in the application no longer starting or login no longer being possible.

Test

Corrupt the layout configuration (e.g., by using an unrecoverable type literal in an expression).
Start the application.
Log in.
Expectation: Startup and login work, but the relevant view is not available.
